Angelique Kerber, who lifted her maiden Grand Slam crown at the
Australian Open earlier this year, bowed out in her opener against
Denisa Allertova of the Czech Republic 7-5, 7-5 at the BNP Paribas Open
on Saturday.
The German left-hander, who toppled Serena Williams in that Melbourne
final, dropped serve twice as many times as her opponent in today's
second-round contest lasting one hour and 38 minutes.
