French tennis player managed to rid themselves only after a spirited party of Russian lucky loser in the tournament at Ahoy, 6-7 (9-11) 6-4 7-6 (10-8). The Russian was the replacement of the grounds of illness and injury drop-out Richard Gasquet. In the second round Chardy is facing his compatriot Nicolas Mahut.
